Static is a fictional character, a comic book superhero published by DC Comics and a member of the Teen Titans. An original character from DC's Milestone Comics imprint, Static first appears in Static #1. Doused with an experimental chemical in a gang war, high school student Virgil Ovid Hawkins gains electromagnetic powers. Like most teenaged heroes in the Spider-Man mold, he is often overwhelmed by the responsibilities of his career as a superhero and typical adolescent problems.
