The Hellblazer comic book series was developed its own universe in which no superhero interventions are shown, suggesting that superheroes no longer exist. John Constantine, is portrayed as a confidence man who does morally questionable things, arguably for the greater good. He triumphs through guile, deceit, and misdirection, and often makes more enemies than he defeats. Constantine is unable to effect any lasting change or enjoy unequivocal victories. The movie adaptation was titled "Constantine" and starred Keanu Reaves.
Hellblazer is set in a contemporary world of magic and supernatural conflict.
