When DC revised the Superman mythology in 1986, they re-titled their Superman comics. The comic that had been titled "Superman (1939 series)" for 423 issues became this title, "Adventures of Superman" starting with issue #424. (At the same time, DC began publishing "Superman (1987 series).
In 2006, starting with issue #650, DC again re-titled this series, this time changing it to "Superman (2006 series).
